Heading Back To School? CBD Can Help Ease The Transition

Back to school time is here! For many students, this means a lot of stress.

New schedules, new apartments, new professors, and the pressure to do well can lead to stress-related woes like headaches and anxiety.

Even if you're excited to be back, the major changes in your routine can still throw you for a loop.

If the end of summer feels like a bummer — CBD could help ease the transition.

We'll discuss how CBD can help reduce stress levels, help you relax, and ease pain from stress-related body aches and tension headaches. Let's dive into how using CBD can make your transition back into school much easier.

Why CBD Is Great For Transitions

Whether it's back to school time, or you're moving across the country for your dream internship, transitions can be tough. When your surroundings change, you naturally feel disoriented. You need to physically and mentally readjust to new environments and daily patterns.

These disruptions in your previous routine can add a layer of stress to your life — at least temporarily.

CBD may help ease the transition by helping you stay a little more calm and balanced through all the ch-ch-ch-changes.

CBD Eases Stress & Anxiety

Let's face it, as a college student, you're under a lot of pressure. You're juggling academics, internships, social life, and a slew of other responsibilities.

Plus — during a time when you're just starting to figure out who you are and what you want, it's easy to feel stressed out or anxious about the future.

CBD has been shown to be an effective way to reduce the symptoms of stress and anxiety.(1)

Most people experience some form of stress from time to time, though college students in particular may experience more stress. As much as 8 in 10 college students experience frequent stress, according to the American Institute of Stress.(2)

CBD may help you feel more relaxed and less overwhelmed by your school-related stress.

CBD Can Help You Chill Out After A Long Day

From packing, to traveling back to school, to meeting a zillion new people — college is a fun but hectic time.

Sometimes you just want to take a breather from all the excitement.

Try a CBD water-soluble tincture to begin your morning fully hydrated and to help you remain balanced throughout the day.

CBD is also a great way to decompress after a long day of unpacking or orientation activities. For a smooth and soothing evening, try a CBD gummy and chill with your favorite TV show.

CBD Can Relieve Headaches & Body Pains

You probably already know that stress can also lead to physical symptoms like headaches, stomach aches, and back pain. And yep, CBD can help with all of these!

Back-to-school activities can also result in a boxful of body aches. If inflammation — which can lead to migraines, joint pain, and muscle pain — is the culprit, CBD might be able to give you some relief. Research has shown CBD to be an effective anti-inflammatory and suggests that it can help significantly reduce pain related to inflammation in the body.(3)

CBD oil is a good option when you want fast-acting results to combat a headache. And a CBD topical is best when you have pain that's localized — for example to soothe your arm muscles after moving all that heavy furniture into your new apartment. (Really, could futon mattresses beany more awkward to move?!)

Tips & Tricks For Back To School CBD Self-Care

Here are a few tips we think will help you maximize your CBD self-care as you slip back into student mode:

  • You have a lot going on during this time — make sure to get enough water during your long days. You may try incorporating a CBD water-soluble in your water bottle to stay hydrated and ready for the day ahead.
  • Make sure to get enough sleep, so your body can recover from the previous day and get ready for another. Consider a CBD + melatonin tincture if the life shift is extra rough on your sleep schedule.
  • Eat healthy foods so you have enough energy for all of your activities throughout. And don’t forget your daily vitamins. You may find that CBD softgels are an easy way to add CBD to your daily supplement regimen.
  • Be sure to allocate some time for downtime. It's important to take care of yourself and give yourself some time to process and recharge. It’s hard to go wrong with a CBD gummy for a fun and relaxing way to end the day.

An Important Note On Traveling With CBD

Crossing state lines when headed back to school? Brush up on your CBD laws.

The good news is you're allowed to travel with CBD from state to state, as long as the CBD is hemp-derived and has no more than 0.3% THC content. Hemp-derived with ≤ 0.3% THC content is federally-legal, and, according to the TSA, you can even fly with federally-legal CBD.

While hemp-derived CBD is legal at the national level, one thing to keep in mind is that laws within different states vary. So, if you're going from one jurisdiction to another, make sure you know the laws of your destination city and state. You might be traveling to a state that has more stringent rules — for example, Idaho's state laws say that the only legal CBD products are hemp-derived with 0.0% THC content. And you definitely don’t want your first extracurricular activity of the year to involve the criminal justice system….

Another legal aspect to consider is age requirements for buying, possessing, and using CBD. There’s no federal guidelines on minimum age, but many states have age-related CBD rules. Again, confirm (in advance) that your school’s locale permits someone of your  number of years old to have CBD.

CBD & Back To School Deserves An A+

After a long summer, it can be tough to transition back into the swing of things. Transitions throw you into unfamiliar situations and environments, which can lead to stress. And the physicality of moving can make you oh-so-sore.

But you may find acclimating to your new scenes and routines goes over more smoothly with a little CBD support. CBD could help you destress and reduce your body aches, which can be especially helpful when you're beginning a fresh school year.

If you're struggling with the transition back to school, consider trying CBD. There are a variety of CBD oil products available — each of which can lend you a hand in its own special way.
